I would have to say I agree with this.. Hunting in BC is under attack (on multiple fronts) as well as guns too, and like most things political the battle will be won or lost in the court of public opinion - we need as many everyday non hunters on our side as we can get. Whether you like him or not, Trump is bad press for us period.

Most Canadian's that support Trump don't blast their horn. This is often revealed as the silent majority, the same majority that elected Trump despite all the noise of how horrible he is.... You're bias will be challenged in understanding this.

Desiring Trudeau's sympathy in advocating for licenced hunting is a fool's errand. Name one instance where his government has legislated stronger protections for licenced hunting.

Nope, because Trudeau is not being treated like the scum of the earth by the media like the Trump family is. Just pointing out the obvious bad press that hunting, associated with DJTJ will bring.

I'm sure there's a fair amount of anti's that voted for Trudeau, so if he was hunting, I'm sure many would condemn it, but it maybe would start conversations about those on the fence, etc.

I'm not personally attached to DJTJ hunting, good for him, just pointing out the reaction in the media and the unfortunate collateral damage to the hunting image. Nothing we can do about it though, comes with the territory.

He's already left. I was on the same flight as him and Hairston and the rest of their crew a few days ago from Whitehorse to Vancouver. Politics aside, as they should be, because we're not out in the mountains to discuss and complain about the issues going on in the news. We're out there to enjoy being out there, and if we're lucky, we'll be heading out heavier then we were on the way in.

Anyways, both of them took the time to chat with me (got a photo with them) about their hunt and showed me pics. So, when it comes to hunting and regular everyday conversation, two thumbs up from me for the two of them.

old thread I know but I watched this hunt on youtube the other day and was alarmed at the end of it when it said "in memory of Jason hairston"
He died in 2018 so I guess I missed it or there was not much for news on the incident ?. Anyhow i was saddened by the story.

Man I’m going to have to start saying pacific time when I’m hunting I guess.... mountain time had a nice ring to it but I don’t want SAR scouring Alberta and NWt looking for me when I’m actually in the coast mountains. And forest time they just wouldn’t even know where to start.
