View Full Version : Years of Stones Sheep

With the Sheep opener in BC fast approaching, it had me thinking back on some of the great adventures I've had.

I remember looking over stories and pictures from guys like BCRAMS/BCBUCKS, SSS, Stonechaser, Deaddog,Usurus and just dying to get to Northern BC. I contribute a lot to guys like this, for lighting a fire and starting a life long passion for mountain hunting.

2007 Had my brother and I head north on our first Sheep trip. Although the trip was tainted with shitty luck and horrible weather, I still smile looking at the "wet" pictures of us.

I'll expand on some pictures as the thread carries on.

Both those rams have some MASS! You must be in a great area for genetics.

14 2/8” bases on the first ram, 14 7/8” on the second ram. Both came out of totally different areas though.

Here's a few family sheep hunting pictures.

A pic when we finally managed to get our Dad up into Stones sheep country.

This picture captured one of the lower moments on a sheep hunt. Me sitting down taking a breather, believe this was day 2 of a multi day pack out. I know I was thinking something along the lines of
"why do I enjoy this?" haha.

Having two younger boys, I love getting back from hunts and going through all the pictures with them. Listening to the 50 questions they have about different parts of the hunt.
Here is my youngest with a couple different sets of Stones horns. I look forward to one day getting to show them some of BC amazing backcountry.

Pack everything out in one trip yes. Three guys 2 rams, two guys one ram. I haven’t had to deal with every person getting a ram in one trip, so it has made the packing a bit easier.

All depends what kind of country you’re in. Some areas could travel 30km in 6-7 hours on foot, some areas lucky to go 5 km in 6 hours.

I know I’ve posted this one before, however one of my favourite hunting pics.

Ive done Stone sheep hunts pretty much every week of the season. This picture was from an October trip in 2009, cold and snow that year.

Any other sheep nuts lingering?…feel free to post up any kind of picture that captures an aspect of Sheep hunting.

Do you have a score on that 2nd ram you can share. Seems to hold the weight quit well.

Yes in my earlier post was a picture of the Dall.

He is a really nice ram, was a pleasure helping my friend get that ram. Our first sheep hunt together, his first ram. I got to give hand signals from a different mountain, and watch my buddy sneak right in on that bedded Dall.....super intense.

Another live pic of the ram.
