Calling moose after October 15?

My moose draw starts October 15.

Does calling still work at the tail end of the rut?

There usually is a second rut 26 days after the first. You will be into the second one, try calling and let us know if it works.

A bull may still respond in that time period but the peak time is the last week of Sept and first week of October. Immature bulls will more likely be the responders in the time frame that you refer to.

if i were you, try some horny balls, me persinally i would try acting like a young bull with a hot cow. dont be agressive.

I got a decent bull last year calling on the 21rst. i mixed a bull and cow call very sparingly. he came slowly and spotted me. i threw my arms up like antlers swaying them side to side and kept grunting, he watched me walk up to where i could shoot him from. I covered 200 yards while he stared at me. I was kind of surprised that it worked

I've called them in right til the end of Oct. Generally cow calling

hopefully calling still works for us when we head up to 6-4 this october for any bull . starting october,20th

There is no doubt the most succesfull time to call is peak rut but I had a bull respond last year a full week into november and tracked two good size bulls fighting it out clashing antlers for 20 minutes last year in the same period in region 5. I will be back there in this same time period this year and like any other year the odd bull will respond in November.

My opinion it can't hurt give it a try.

Calling worked last year in your area after the October 15. Evening seemed to be better than morning. I would recommend cow call. The young bulls may be reluctant to come to a bull call if they think it will end up in a scrapwith a big bull. A bull call may bring a big agressive bull out the last few meters if they are holding in cover. MHO

I've called mature bulls in Nov. There is a secondary rut.

Calling will work,no doubts. I have had years of moose calling work right into the first week of Nov.
