Hi there,

I am wondering about tips to set up a tree stand on a slope: top, bottom or mid-slope? Based on the onsite evidence, it is likely that deers moves through the slope in both directions.

What would you suggest?

Thanks

Top of the slope or hill so you can see them coming either way

Can you see the whole slope from the top or bottom? Which way do the prevailing winds blow? What direction do the deer trails go? Straight up and down, or across the slope. All important things to consider.

Sit there in the evening til dark.
Do the same at first light.

Do this to establish wind patterns as well as katabatic and thermal effects.
Sitting in a blind or stand is useless if you are stinking things out.

Tie some ribbons on the bank that you can see from the blind......watch them.
They will give you a good indicator what the wind is doing around you.
Wind is not right.....bail out.
