Since fathers day is coming up soon, I thought it would be a good time to put up a few pics of fishing adventures with my 5 year old...it's all about quantity over quality for him, the lakes with lots of action are what seems to be getting him hooked, regardless of fish size...and he's loving the fact that he's helping to provide the odd dinner for the family, and I tell him that every fish that he wants to keep rather than put back, we have to eat it no matter what (fish is not his favorite meal)...everyone please feel free to post up pics of your own fishing adventures with your kids on this thread...

lol this one below was from an ice fishing outing in January, he put his one foot in the hole within 3 minutes of being on the lake, I told him we had to stay for a little bit before we could just go home...I took his boot off and he used one of my gloves as a boot, and warmed up by a fire for a bit....lol he was miserable until we caught a perch..

Realing it in, got a bite...I was really proud of him here, he kept in good spirits through some fairly heavy rain...

^^^^thanks buddy....ya I have had to change his clothes after being out more than once.....one of the best parts of the outing which I didn't post on here was I got him to help gut it....after I slit it, he pulled out all the guts and ran his thumb along the spine etc, his first time, and talk about halarious watching them do it and feel the 'sliminess' for the first time...

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=7031&stc=1I got out fished by my 4 year old 4-0 this spring. There were no rod holders in the boat so he got to set on each one. The look once his face when he got the first hit was priceless.

Went out to scope the Fraser the other day for sockeye spots and the boy and I got into a nest of cutties in the Harrison as they were feeding on stickleback fry. We were just trying for some pike minnows but were pleased by what we found.

Love this thread!

My kids and I have had a pretty good fishing year. Here's one of my son and me with a Chinook he landed last month. We use all barbless, so there's not a lot of room for error, but he's learned to keep his rod tip up, keep the line tight, let it run, and reel fast when it's coming at you. I could watch him slay salmon all day long.

Of course, small fish are fun too. This one is particularly significant, because this is the first fish he caught all on his own: by himself he took my 12 foot boat with the electric motor out, and got this little guy without sinking, tangling or loosing any gear. Not bad for a 12 year old.

My daughter doesn't yet have a lot of patience for fishing, although we did get her into some Kokanee earlier this season. Still, she loves catch-and-release dock fishing, so I have high hopes for the future.

Had a great day up at one of our local lakes. We released 12 or so dollies and cutthroat but we had one swallow the hook as well as a white fish. They will make some fine fair, and the boy is getting pretty good at hauling them in. It also beats sockeye on the Fraser by a country mile.
