Yes, just back from three days of Bear hunting in region 2-6..

Never seen or heard so many, absolute explosion!

Every 75 yards a male was calling, just fantastic..

I was noticing the same thing in my area. They are calling everywhere... even places I do not normally hear them. Looking forward to fall GOS, especially bow season.

Very neat to see the next with the 10 eggs Wayne.

Good to hear, I haven`t seen more than a few in nearly 20 years here. 1998 in Hazelton was a BOOM year, hardly any since, there or in the EK. Nothing better than a hatfull of shagymanes and 2 grouse breast fryed in butter after a morning hunt.!

Watched one feeding on the greenery right in camp.

Food is looking good this year in 2-6.

Up around 2500 ft the blueberries are looking like an early bumper crop!

Seeing a few grouse around but it’s too early to gauge how the season will be.

The perfect storm for brooding, weather wise. Dry and warm. Lets hope theres lots of bugs and seeds for the little buggers to eat.

Someone told me once that when encountering a group of grouse leave a few to go on their merry way of course you would not take over your daily bag limit anyways !

My son and I saw more Grouse in 3 days hunting the south island than I have seen in 10 years combined . 8 in a 1km stretch of road .
Hopefully they are still around during hunting season.
