Woody box pics, First Hatch!

Another first for us, I was able to capture newly hatched ducklings with my iPhone pictures the other day. I set things up to capture the exit (usually the next morning) but our trail camera delay doesn't react quick enough....
I also had a camera aimed at the water under the box, caught some great photos of ducks and a Heron catching 3 fish last week but the camera only snapped one photo of me walking by before I left so no just exiting duckling pics. But we were fortunate that the next day when we went to recover the trail cam cards, there were a couple hens with ducklings in the slough. A couple mallards and a Woody hen that we figure has to be our hen!
We are now up to 8 of 14 boxes with eggs now, the cameras indicate a couple more boxes are close getting eggs soon too.

Yes. We also have boxes with horizontal cuts every 1/2” up to the opening and they work well too.
Only ever found one dead newborn in a box. Brew, the ducklings jump out of the box the morning after they hatch!
