Get a Yamaha .... I think you’d be happier with this brand.

I think small Suzukis are also made by Tohatsu, like Nissans , Mercurys, and Evinrudes. So shop around.

My buddy has a 140 and a 9.9 on his Thunder Jet and they are nice engines.
We have Yamaha's on our Duckworth, they're nice too.

What's the 15 going on? Are you going to need electric tilt and start?(kicker on a big boat) . Or for a little boat?

Going on a 12 foot Spratley. I like the idea of the fuel injection the Suzuki has.

Yamaha all the way. Have a 20 hp on my Lund and a 4 hp for my 12 foot. Never let you down. Bought the 20 in 2010. Took it out for the first time this year and 2 pulls and away it went.

Suzuki and Yamaha are both great engines. Although I do have a 8 horse tohatsu that’s about 20 years old that is indestructible

I have a 9.9 Suzuki kicker on my 24’er and it’s been a great little motor, likely has over 3,000 hrs on it. 2008 model so not injected although that would be a great upgrade

I think it would be comparing apples to apples on small outboards. They are all pretty good. Find the best price. Now the big engines? Suzuki is way ahead of everyone else .

Got the 15hp Suzuki. So far so good. Long term, guess we'll see how it goes. Sure like the fuel injection, seems to just sip the fuel

I've had the suzuki 15hp efi for 2 seasons.

Pros

1. Efi..seems to be ahead in technology. It's also batteryless. Zero issues always starts on first or 2nd pull.

2. Lightweight at only 96lbs it's the lightest in its class.

3. Trolls very nice with a plate. I have it on a 12 foot line wc12.

4. 6 year warranty.

Cons

1. I've had issues with seals leaking oil. Easy fix but it seems to pop up once a season.

2. I think I have a computer issue as my engine does not want to open up. Then suddenly I feel a surge and it's off to the races.

3. Buy from a good dealer. I bought mine in Kamloops and it's obvious they only specialize in dirt bikes. No proper diagnosis for my computer issues as they only have a barrel not a tub. Not happy with the dealings I've had there

4. If it were me I would go with the 20hp. Same weight just different prop and computer . I wish i bought one.

Overall i like the outboard but not happy with some of the issues I've had. I think if i had a good dealer it would of been all good by now. With the weight savings and efi I still think it's worth it
