Hey,

I'd like to have a bag of salt on hand for a hide. I hear it should be a big bag, fine and non-iodized. Where do you buy your salt from, around the lower mainland, say Chilliwhack / abbotsford area?

Thanks

P.S. - Best bear skinnin how to I've found is by a Yukon CO, "Bear Hide and Meat Care" on Youtube.

I'd imagine around Chilliwack there should be a couple feed stores that will carry what you are looking for.

I get 50lb bags of salt from the co-op in Pitt Meadows on Harris road.Found they are a lot cheaper than anywhere else I've looked

Most lumber yards sell water softener salt for $5-$6/20kg bag. K

Fine is best as it clings better and dissolves faster, but coarse will do.
Iodized or non-iodized makes no difference to the hide, just messes with the chemical baths at the tannery, but they monitor and adjust.
Regular old table salt in 2 lb boxes does the job, livestock feed salt is in 40? lb bags

Ive used probably 1000lbs, of salt from Costco.
I've never had a taxi bitch about it.

Here in the pond..20kg bag..fine grain, non iodized sells for $11 at feed store..I always put it in bucket if flying..salt is problematic to aircraft structure..there was a reason for non iodized in regards to cape . l just cant remember this morning..lol
