I'm a little late posting this but, better late than never.
Shot in the kootenays may long weekend, 7 foot boar, I spotted him from 1/2 mile away on other side of the valley way up on a slide. It was already getting late so I basically ran up the mountain, across three slides and snuck in to about 50 yards. Had to sit and wait for the shot for about 10 minutes while he kept feeding towards me. He finally turned broadside at 15 yards and I laid it to him. One shot with my 45/70 let the air outa him, he did a 360 and as he was coming around he came up on his back legs and let out a roar then he dove down the hill into the alders. He was out before his front feet hit the ground. He died in a really bad spot beside a creek and in the alders, I couldn't see more than 20 feet and couldn't hear a thing above the noise of the creek. The hair was standing up on the back of my neck the whole time I was skinning him out.I had him skinned out and in my pack in 20 minutes, the last five it was nearly dark.Once the 40 minute hike out in the dark was over I was smilling from ear to ear.http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/grizz2.jpg
