Howdy, just got my 40th Bday present - Excalibur Micro Supressor and am brand new to crossbows. I use a sling quite a bit while hunting with my rifle. Wondering if any of you use a sling with your crossbow? Either for carrying your crossbow to and from your stand/blind, or while still hunting? Or do you just strap it to your pack or just carry it?

Also, what's the maximum amount of time you guys leave your bows cocked? I often sit in my blind from dawn till dusk - is that too long?

Thanks in advance and Happy St Patty's Day!

I have owned three Excalibur bows thus far. All were outfitted with slings for the very reasons you mention. I would not be without one. My current bow carries a custom para-chord sling that really grabs your shoulder:

Not too long at all.
Some Excalibur owners leave their bows cocked for days with a new string in order to stretch it some.
No worries with these bows. Carry On...

Cheers,

Crossbows aren't the easiest to carry, and will never be as comfortable as a rifle on your shoulder, but these slings do the job.
