Congrats! Glad you had your luck charm! I don't exactly live in the hottest elk territory but I'd be over the moon to find an elk shed!!!

Hunter 1947, are you searching random places or wintering grounds? Those are some awesome finds. Does anybody know some areas to search around castlegar? Have a young pup that loves chewing on sheds and want to take him out. Been up around syringa , but no luck yet. Thanks for any input. Did find a tick on him.

All winter grounds low elevation is where I am finding my sheds ,,lots of local elk nd deer in the low elevation areas year around

Its funny you ask me this I have a built in compass in my head wherever I am in the woods I know exatley where i am this has come to me over many years being in the woods

I know exactly what you mean....I like to practice navigation, but I sub consciously pay attention to my direction, as I always know the direction I'm heading when I start...very nice finds by the way..

I sold my last bunch and into my third year after selling that bunch I won't sell the ones that aren't chewed only the chewed ones I will be selling as for the one year old sheds..

Shes a tough bugger. She and the Weimaraner work together on birds too. She found a few white tail sheds last year that were bigger than her and carried them out on her own!

When I headed to Calgary on Thursday we saw 4 different herds, most cows and spikes but on group or about 12 that were all bigger bulls,4 to 6 point. All told maybe 150+ elk . Most between Kimberley and Canal Flats. And an assload of Whities. None packing.

A reminder wood ticks are bad out there I had around 20 on me over the 5 days I shed hunted in the back woods ,,make sure you strip off naked and have
someone check you or if you have a back mirror you can do this yourself..

LOL Thank you ,, this camera now is 6 years old I have dropped it many times and it still keeps on trucking the make is (Everio JVC) it has a 40x80 zoom takes the pictures and Videos you see that I posted on my thread,,I don't think they make this video camera anymore from what I have heard from the Source ???.

Sounds like a great camera. Takes a beating and keeps ticking! I also meant optical zoom but wrote digital zoom instead.

elk hair with this elk shed,,LOL,,May 16,2018..

I would say some are local and some not I never have hunted these areas where the elk winter..

Great video yesterday too. It was really cool too see the 10 grouse eggs and you mentioned the hen was trying to play the wounded routine. I actually had no idea that grouse play that game. I guess I have never come across a nest for that to happen. Very educational. We're looking forward to seeing you set up the cams as well as the resulting videos. We're subscribed to your channel so whenever you post a video it pops up on the TV in our living room :)
