So I recently picked up a hilleberg Allak to add to my mountain hunting gear. I’m curious if you guys who take expensive tents like this buy or make a footprint for a already heavy tent. Or do you find they are durable enough on there own? Is it overkill or smart wear resistance?

I have an Allak I use all the time. I also bought the footprint and use it most of the time.

Use it always. Makes for quicker setup as well. Pull it tight and stake it down. Use as a backup siltarp

I have an Allak, don't use the footprint. Instead I use two contractor garbage bags side-by-side. That way they can double for other purposes, they always come in handy on a trip. The footprint is a one trick pony.

I use a piece of Typar building wrap cut to size, rolls up small and weighs almost nothing.

I use mine all the time, weighs very little and provides an extra layer of protection to your floor. I don't own a Hilleberg so I don't know how tough their floors are but to me using a footprint just makes sense, way less likely to get a puncture or tear, not to mention just your normal wear and tear..

Always use footprint on my tents.

Ok thanks for the input. Looks like I’ll pick one up. Probably a hilleberg footprint because I like how it attaches to the tent and stays there for future use. Everything goes up together in one shot

Always use mine on all my tents. Extends the life of your tent.
