Took my 9 1/2 month old lab Buddy out for her first hunt last sunday and she did very well.
She didn't retrieve any birds when we shot but she behaved well and came back when called. I threw birds for her to retrieve when we shot though and she brought them back and delivered them to hand. Looks like she'll be a good duck dog and I'm sure Remi will be happy to take on less of a workload on those days she would normally be the only dog working when there are 3 of us out there!
Buddy is the first dog I've needed help training and I'm glad I dropped her off at http://bcgamebirds.com/bcgamebirds.com/Home.html for 5 weeks. Kevin was able to mould her into a dog I can handle, I was really frustrated trying to train this dog but she's a pleasure to take out for training now!

I love how she leaps in..no pussy-footing around....buddy used to shoot a merganser or two in the early season to get his dog tuned up for the season...prolly not the most ethical thing these days?

I’ve trained 6 or 7 labs in my life and this dog just wasn’t consistently doing things I was training her to do.
Shes an alpha dog, wanted to do what she wanted when she wanted.
Kevin conditioned her to an E collar (I had never used one before) and force fetch. She comes back every time I call her now and sits next to me , holds steady until she hears the correct command and will heal properly when we walk. Now she does what she’s been trained to do when told. She’s really keen to retrieve, lots of drive. She is on her way to being a good duck dog now and now that I can control her it’s not frustrating me when I take her out.
Looking forward to taking her hunting Saturday.

If you stay consistent she will most likely be the best dog you've ever had. I personally wouldn't hunt over a dog unless they are e collar conditioned and force fetched. She is definitely a looker!
