I just bought my first duck call. Can anybody recommend a good video to learn the basics for different duck calls?
Thank you

Best advise I can give you; get out to some local ponds/fields and listen to how ducks talk in their environment. I learned more from being out there first hand than any video I've watched.

What kind of call? Single or double reed? Manufacturer? wood plastic or acrylic?

Yikes didn't know there were so many calls. I bought a Duck Commander versatile mallard Hen call. It's Orange plastic and I believe it's a single reed. The guy at Cabelas recommended it as a good beginner call

Did you ever read the part in the regs where it says electronic calls are a no-no for waterfowl??

Agreed, the Double Nasty II and Big Water are a killer 1/2 combo for turning and finishing birds. And both are easy to blow.

Another good place to learn to call is believe it or not the Reifel Island bird sanctuary. I take my kids there all the time. They like that I can "talk" to the ducks.

Sometimes calling ducks less is more. They are opisite to geese. DU has some good videos. I use the single quack and the feeding chuckle. I make my own calls and I go down to Mcaurther Park in Kamloops to try them out. Just listen to the duck and talk back to them.
