Thought I would share my first buck and first Blacktail with all of you. I got it up the Chilliwack river valley about 930am. I had just climbed the side of the hill I was hunting. At the top was some old growth forest. I sat down just inside the old growth and was scanning with my binoculars when all of a sudden I heard a huge racket. Two does followed by a buck had just jumped into the old growth just above me. I missed twice then connected on the third shot. He jumped out and fell down the side of the hill dead. Anyways super excited! Three years to finally get my buck! My problem has been i get way to excited and end up missing my shot because I don't take my time. Ive sure learned a lot the last three years.

Nothing wrong with that Blacktail. It’s a great buck and not just for a first.

Congradulations..buck fever affects us all..experience will somewhat cure it but excitement is a critical part of hunting..it fun..
Great buck..some great eating too..can't get that from golfing..

Nice buck. Good for you for sticking with it. The only problem is, now you'll want to do it again.

That is a great buck!! Nothing like the feeling of the first animal, although it isn't far off from the feeling of the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th....but still, nothing like the first one!!! Congrats!

Well done Sir. Buck fever is a dirt bag. I try to separate the animal from the target to focus on where you want to shoot rather than what. Yet I still get the fever and probably always will. Keep up the good work.
