I used to live in Vernon and hunted region 8 all the time. It was fantastic hunting. Lots of game and rarely saw other hunters once you got off the beaten tracks. We have since relocated to Victoria. I still hunt lots, but have yet to take a buck, sure are smaller and do not seem anyway near as plentiful. Except for all the ones that I see in my yard right in the city.

All very interesting but I wonder if I could narrow down Looky Louis a bit to the Nicholson Creek Rd. area which runs north from Rock Creek. Anyone else know about this area. I'll be up there this fall throwing up a few stands for whitetail and getting on the ground with my bow looking for muleys.

Geez, what a great guy and walking encyclopedia that Looky Louis what with all the free information about region 8. I once, many years ago met his cousin Looky Stump, and he was just as knowledgable, but with region 5. I don't know if he's still alive or if that Griz he chased for years finally got him, as we've been out of touch for quite some time.

Jelly you forgot about mulies on the west side of region 8. What about
8-2, 8-3, 8-4, 8-5, 8-6, 8-7, 8-8, 8-11??? I know you've mentioned a couple of them but surely there's more. That where the majority of the muley population lives and most of the big bucks are taken!

Here's one for ya jelly, a young one but a buck in any case.

One shot caught him out on the edge of a beaverpond the other day - happens seldom to never, particularly after sept 10; course he's still young. Most of this area is 15-20 year old cuts, with a few poplars still standing (good spot to hang the treestand!). This is actually the only "open" patch; the rest is 50-75 yards vis max other than when glassing from about a kilometre across the valley. We spend most of our time sitting up high and glassing the old moonscape trying to pattern the bucks early season. When it comes to November we setup in the high traffic areas and rattle, grunt and wait for the big boys to come out. Makes for some great action. It's a bit of a hike and it's all glassing but there's some good bucks in there!!!

The bucks still live to die of old age in the high hunter areas you just gotta know where to look for 'em.

Hasn't Looky Louis ever heard of 8-8??? Geeze, for a guy that likes monster muleys, you'd think he'd of mentioned that one to ya Jelly Roll. Maybe he was keeping that a secret for himself. ;)

GoatGuy

I figured 8-8 and 8-11 would be the talk for mulies with Jelly???

Maybe one of lucky louie's "lucky" spots that don't hit HBC!

Come on Jelly give us the goods!

So what does Louis know about the saddle, the pigery, buck heaven, keys and baldy?

GoatGuy

Are you trying to make everyone jellyeous or you trying to show up Looky Louis and his buddies? Keep up the good reports!

Just trying to point out that when it comes to whitetails the areas that get all the pressure have plenty of good bucks and sometimes you don't have to drive 6 hours to get to a good hunting spot! That's only for elk!

The Piggery. LOL! Only a TRUE region 8 oldtimer knows where the Piggery is. I've dumped a couple of bucks up there. I bet Looky Louis has no friggin idea where it is.

The best place for mule deer is in the pub parking lot just as you enter princeton if your heading east!

His hands shook so bad his drinks would spill.

I think somebody's drink was a bit too strong.

A few, I think you would have to polish off a bottle for any of Jelly's post to make sense.

Stirling Creek mainline looks like it has been nuked. Was there Sunday. Maybe in a few years it'll come back, but right now it' s mostly vast ugly new clearcuts.
