Two full seasons and got my first whitetail. I've logged many miles and hours not including countless hours at home reading and researching. Been quite an obsession really. But gave myself a goal to bring one home this year and pulled it off. Did everything from shot to butcher by myself all went really well thanks to YouTube. Definitely learned a few things at the school of actually doing through. Pretty proud really. He was a pretty nice 4 point. Weighed in at 134lbs once headed skined and cleaned up. Time to make some room in the freezer. Thanks to all you guys for the advise and tips I've gained on this site. Even though you didn't even know I was getting them. I'll post a pic if I can figure out how to reduse file size

Best way to get good at hunting a species is to become obsessed and learn all you can about them lol

Congrats on your first WT and keep learning all you can about them it only gets easier if you do

They are a species that is more about mental challenges then physical

Nice work! congrats man, and awesome that you did all the butchering yourself. I've yet to get the hands on experience but i hear you with Youtube! its such an excellent resource for learning anything. I've figured out everything from cooking to vehicle maintenance from DIY videos.

Okay gotta come clean. I didn't do the butchering. I should have wrote from shot until butchering. I see how that is misleading now that I read it. Sorry guys not ready for that job quite yet.

Nice one! Feels good, eh?
Next time you'll have to butcher it yourself. It is an undertaking, but it is worth learning how.
