What kind of dog? Might be a cougar hound that got left out, happens sometimes. They'll leave dog food or a coat out on the road and the hounds will wait there.

Back in the olden days when we lost a hound we would leave clothing with our scent on it, Dog food, even dog boxes, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions that it was abandoned although it’s possible.

Sometimes they run a track and shit happens gets late come back in the am and go to where they left somethjng the dog is gamiliar with. Buddy has got his dog back twice this way.

Not sure where greenstone is but there are lots of areas open from sept to april.
