My buddy and I decided to do some fishing around the Lions Gate yesterday.I caught a few small cohos and a a 24 lb Spring with a white hootchie at 40 feet. The cohos are starting to stack up at the mouth of the Capilano so the fishing will be pretty good soon.http://www.lan-lord.net/upload/pics/20070806224724IMG_0392.JPG

That's a good score for out front.
Nice being in a boat there hey?
I remember combat fishing when I was a kid living in North Van at the mouth of the Cap... Thankfully I was too small then to drown people.

dave....

Assuming you are talking about the mouth of the Cap, it will "probably" start producing in through the early part of July. You will get fish through June, but things pick more through July right through to later Sept/early October.

Without downriggers....you may not be too popular through there. The "pack" of boats can be pretty tight and if you have lines dragging way out behind your boat it is going to be a pain for other boats and not to mention you will have a good chance of getting tangled up with other boat's gear.

Without riggers you may be better to stay further up the shoreline towards Lighthouse park or out off Point Grey. I would just make sure I stayed away from the "pack" in either area as it will get pretty testy, pretty quickly.

Get to the west coast of the Island to see some salmon fishing. Fingers crossed that this year is anything like last year.
