The regs state for some areas "motor vehicles prohibited except on designated roads"

What is a designated road? Is it anything that looks like a road, including ancient skidder trails? Is it a "well used" road? Is it one that has an actual name or appears on a topo map?

I don't want to go down some old road only to find out it doesn't fit the definition of a "designated road"

Thanks!

I'm thinking they would specify which roads are ok within that unit, hence "designated"

just a thought

Page 3 of the regs. It looks like as long as there's tire ruts you are good.

For others wondering:

1. road or trail with a paved surface
2. cross-country or downhill ski route in a ski area that is marked by the owner of the ski area
3. a road used for logging or mining
4. a road or trail used to access wind generators or comm towers
5. a trail on which there is no vegetation except on a strip that, if present, can be straddled by a 4 wheel vehicle.
