Thinking of getting an electric camp fence for next year, something like the UDAP bear fence. Does anyone know where to buy these in Canada?? The ones on amazon don't seem to ship to Canada and cabelas does not show them on the Canadian web site.. Any ideas??

Get it shipped to one of the border crossing companies. There’s one in sumas but don’t know the name of it

what's the difference between this unit and a livestock fencer?

last weekend I used Letterlock in Sumas. A 75 lb front bumper for my Tacoma cost me a whole whopping $5 us for them storing and handling it. No idea how they can make any money at those rates. They can also forward your package to their Abbotsford office if you don't want to cross the line.

Most any farm supply store would have all you need in electric fencing supplies.

What I am after has to be liteweight and packable into the mountains, all in the name of a better nite sleep while camping out in bear country. I think the base model UDAP fits into a small carry case and weighs about 4lbs total with two D batteries, I'm thinking ahead to a hike in hunt next fall where I know there is the odd grizzly roaming around

Because they make sense. When horseback hunting I take a UDAP electric food cash fence. We store food, meat and capes within it's confines. It also works well to keep marmots away from gear.

Around my tent or tipi I use a Packalarm. It works awesome. Had a grizzly come into our camp this year at 1:30 am. The alarm scared it off. Awesome product

Dude you don't need an electric fence, you need a pack alarm...its an alarm via trip wire. I have 2. They sell them on here. Light weight, loud as hell and you can run the trip wire around your camp pretty wide out. Animal trips it, boom siren goes off, animal probably shits itself and gets outta dodge

Set them up around your meat pole or camp...whatever you need. Will alert you to a bear on your meat as you return to camp from a days hunt too

I have the udap fence and once you figure it out its pretty easy to set up..we didn't think it was working so well so we took off our shoes and touched it lol..it works! One thing to keep in mind is having damp conductive earth, sand is a very poor conductor as well as years of dry pine needle undergrowth..

Also have a pack alarm..ran out of the supplied twine after forgetting and walking into and snapping it a bunch of times..tried using mono fishing line this year which didnt work well as it had way too much stretch..think I ll try some 10lb mono next time..

I'm bearnoid and we saw a bunch of bears this year blacks and grizzlies and had one roar at us in the thick bush not to mention one guy got mauled not too far from us so all these things that dont take much time to set up help me sleep a little better..
