I was given this from an old Germans cottage. It is 30 inches wide and 60 inches long. The 2 wool inserts are 1 inch thick in some places. I am assuming it is some kind of sleeping bag but I'm not sure. I just wanted it for that wool. It is so soft!!!!! Any ideas?

it must be some sort of sleeping apparatus , possibly to increase comfort level

As bartell suggests a possible sleeping apparatus to increase comfort level for kids or a pig-me maybe.........a very rare item......I would definitely hang onto it !

Asked Eve(wife) what it was & she told me that her dad Reinhard had a similar sleeping bag. Similarly made bags were also used for small kids in Germany she told me.
Yes Reinhard was a hunter & knew how to keep himself warm.

If it was only a little longer it would be awesome to try it as a sleeping bag or for a child

I might just have to try it in my campervan. The wool is so soft it must be from something other than sheep. I'll bring other blankets in case I need them. Cool.

yeah it's a sleeping bag . In Europe they use wool for mattresses , there are full time mattress stuffers , yep its true
