Last year took up bow hunting after 20 yrs absence from Ont whitetail hunts. Must say the peace of it... still hunting, camo'd up, listening, waiting is a good part of the experience. My watch over a deer trail well into the thick of this particular mountain side I could see saplings stripped of bark got me thinking again about rattling and use of scents. Anyone had any success with these?

Also: I am hunting with a 55lb Samic Sage recurve (takedown). Very consistent bow in target shoots although my shoulders wish I had gone for a 40-45 lb pull as retired older dude. If interested I will sell the bow or swap for lighter draw. I love the compact, back pack friendly nature of the takedown recurves out there.

Write a love story with 3 characters: 2 bucks and a doe. Play it out over a couple hours at 15-30 minute intervals, using bleats, grunts and antlers.

Dont jump right into rattling.. work your way up to it: the wandering doe looking for love; the young suitor raking branches, a second suitor arrives and the two bucks rub antlers a bit, etcetc etc

Shoot yourself a spiker or 2 pt just into start of rut.
Cut off scent glands and sew them onto your favourite hunting toque.
Get yourself up into big guys territory and set up blind, tree stand etc..
Rattle, bleat, grunt and stomp as others have suggested.

Don`t tie scent glands on you ! Friend kept up in his tree stand for two hours by a Grizzly that followed his tracks to the tree . Just before dark a logging truck on a nearby curve hit the jake brake and the bear ran one direction and my friend another .
