My biggest buck so far.....

Shot this guy yesterday afternoon, I was slowly making my way to my hunting stand, glassing in the mild snow storm, as I have learned to expect the unexpected...suddenly to my right, I caught a glimpse of this guy, within 100 yards, and he was standing still and suspicious...we both froze, and I was comfortable making a standing shot, as I practice regularly...I knew I would have to get my shot off quickly and accurately, and most of his lungs were blocked by a small pine tree..I took off my safety before bringing the gun up to my shoulder, brought it up quickly, and made sure that even though I would have to shoot quickly, I consciously would have to squeeze softly and not jerk the trigger, and I did exactly that, and aimed on the narrow gap that I had of his lungs/vitals...I hit him but he bolted into the thick, I waited 30 mins before slowly following his tracks in the snow..I started seeing blood after a few yards, and ever so slowly made my way through the clear cut then the thick stuff, flagging the blood trail as I went..I then found him laying dead, and the real work began...

I had to halve him to haul him out, too far of a drag....I use the Alps Commander pack...

Lol that's exactly what I did, surprisingly I didn't get the shakes, I just glimpsed at the rack then subconsciously forced myself to just look at the vitals and think of it as just a target..

Actually ive been hunting pretty much every weekend but haven't deer hunted except for the early archery season.

Just not much killing so far except for waterfowl.

Thanks guys, ya my buddy has done a few euro mounts, was fortunate to have his help, used peroxide for the whitening, pressure washer after boiling, was very pleased..

Yes very long, haven't measured it but close to that, I'd say around 11" on each of the back ones..
