OK I wont share the name yet but here is the story. I ordered from a specialist 5 box's of colt.41 for my 110 year old antique colt thunderer. I am not a gun expert, far from any expert knowledge. I took the gun out to his shop last year, and he got mad at me for taking the gun out in his shop saying he doesnt need the gun...ok I actually felt embarrassed thinking i was wrong in bringing the gun out..

Anyways a month past and he called and said order is ready...paid the $575 and had my brother pick up becauses its an 1.5 hour drive from my house. I get the bullets and lock them in the safe. SO this sept I take them with the gun to the cabin, drive to a spot to shoot, take the bullets out and insert them in the chamber and they are 1mm too long...WTF. Call the guy, rude to me saying bring them out. I drive out yesterday and bring the gun and he says ya well each guns different, that he made standard .41's and says i need to buy new ones??? WTF, so i calmly say well this is your mistake and i watch this guy get angered from me saying its his problem, i say, you even told me that every guns off so why didnt you make sure they fit last year before making 250 rounds,,,nothing from him, then he says well it was well over a year ago so its too long (Have invoice and receipt) so i explain they were in the locker for all this time, then i say ok if it was one day after i discovered his mistake what would he have done, no answer other than this is not his problem.

Normally i would loose it and go over the counter on someone who is this rude and angry, but i keep calm, and ask him to see if its fixable. Then i thank him for looking into and ask, when can i expect this fixed, and he said i doubt ill fix and ill call you when i call you..... again rudest mother f'r gun guy ever but I am hoping he takes care of his mistake.

SO is this my fault? Should he be accountable?? Any feedback on what to do?

His mistake for sure..
Give him another call and if not plaster him with exposure.
I would think another guy could trim and reuse the components.

I would say definitely his fault. You had the gun with you. If he knew, like he said, each gun is different then he should have measured your gun before he even started. He should be on the hook for the full cost and should
deliver them to you and make sure they work.

Very odd that he didnt want the gun to check the first round he made or take chamber measurements to ensure the cartridges would fit. A gun that old probably wouldnt have the exact spec's as newer ones. Sounds like a lazy ass to me who just made them quickly and hoped they would fire off. Yikes, not the guy I would want reloading ammo for me

Ya he is a very odd duck, super rude and super angry. Hopefully he just gets this corrected but i have a bad feeling hes going to tell me im out of $575.

If this is just an issue with bullet seating and the rounds are not crimped. It should just be a matter of re-seating the bullet to the proper depth. I would think

Sorry I am not good at describing, if i put the bullets in the cylinder, they stick out about a milimiter so the cylinder will not rotate to the next bullet?

Does that make sense?

Yes. When you mount the actual projectile in the brass cartridge, it can be pressed down slightly more or less depending on your firearm.

PS. If you don't have the proper equipment, don't try this yourself.

I ordered from a specialist........where did this label come from?
Sounds like he F'ed up, but likely nothing will stick in the way of a complaint
Somebody competent can fix your problem

Do you know what the load is? What bullet, what powder, powder charge?

It sure ain't hard to push them another millimeter if that is all they need if the crimp isn't to deep????

Sounds like this guy has some issues if he's always getting angry and then doesn't admit his mistakes. Hope it works out for ya.

I had work done by a 'revolver and lever action specialist' out in Mission, and the experience sounds similar. Awful awful awful. Rude, angry for literally no reason, expensive, and the work was done poorly and was left unfinished.

i since have heard other bad stories about the guys work and attitude.

im sorry you got jacked around. It happens in all walks of life.

Had a similar experience as Ryo when I had work done on my .41. The work was so bad in fact I brought it home and re did most of the work my self. It only cost me $500 to learn he ain't no smith.

OK .... I take them with the gun to the cabin, drive to a spot to shoot .....

A spot to shoot? with a restricted hand gun? A colt thunderer is a pistol is it not? Some how I visualize a gravel pit. Hopefully the spot was at an actual range? Wouldn't want to see your troubles compounded if it weren't a gun range and an enthusiastic officer read this thread. Perhaps he was pissed you brought the gun to his shop because he is not an actual licensed gun smith?

Sounds like you need to take them out to Chilliwack and have the nail shop that locked a customer in the store file them down. lol. I would say at 14 days your warranty or guarantee would be up. Sure it may be his fault but some fault lies with you for not checking things much sooner.
