The one I saw was as big as a horse I think. 8) I'd always wondered where they hided before I saw this one. Definitely a surprise.

They migrate from the Upper Pitt River transplant or Indian Arm? That just way too cool, maybe in a few years there will be a LEH. One could dream.

They can get big those Roosevelts. We had one on the coast that was relocated and tagged. He was just under 1500lbs. A big 7X8 Bull. I have never seen one bigger. Wow what a monster.

We relocated them here from Vanc Island. At one time the powers that be were afraid that if some disaster or disease hit the Island then at least the species would still be around and healthy somewhere else.

So for all the lurking treehugger's, here's a fine example of what hunters and our monies can do for the wildlife, so what have your lot done lately that's this productive???? HUH WELL????

Mini Rant over:wink:

26 elk from the Sunshine Coast were released into the Squamish last winter..there's also others moved in from elsewhere in there

Roosevelts ranged on the mainland historically, so the idea behind relocations is not only to provide insurance for some sort of catastrophe on the island but also to restore elk in historically occupied habitat.
