Nice Manitoba bull. When i come back to Manitoba to visit my sisters i always take the narrows route to get to Ethelbert from the city. Congrats on a great archery bull.

congrats but give us the story, where did you start and where did you go to generally speaking...never hunted elk before? Did you just pick a spot and get lucky or did you know there were elk in the area? Looks like it wasn't in your back yard...

Grizz 59, you are correct. I traveled through the Narrows. Yup, it's a Manitoba elk. There is not much to the story. I hunted this area last year for 10 days without seeing an elk. Though, my partners and I did find one spot they were utilizing quite heavily. I was able to sit this spot on the 11th day and shot a cow, since the tag is good for any elk. Fast forward to this year, I knew where I was sitting. The wind was favorable, I went in and hung a stand at 3 pm. Around 7:30 pm I heard some cracking behind and to the right about 50 yards away. It was a bull raking a tree and making a scrape. He did this for about 15 minutes. It looked like he was going to walk away, so I gave a couple cow mews. He turned around and approached within 25 yards, but no shot. 20 minutes later I made 2 consecutive cow mews, and he bugled back. 1 more mew, he responded again and this time he was on his way. He came to about 12-14 yards, and I heart shot him. He went 50 yards, stopped and then tipped over. I was excited to say the least! So, now everyone can understand why the film was so short! Thanks again for watching, and being positive. I have always had a good reception on this site when I have shared content. Now, here's hoping to getting a bull moose in Northern Manitoba with my bow!
