Hey folks ....so with bow season underway.....guys and gals will be suscessful ....ok so you got your animal dow .....its 25-30 degrees....now what....time is not your friend in this situation....gut and skin off asap and into game bags...then down to coolers prefilled with ice packs.....soooo what about other hunters ....seasoned or not....what do you do?

I've taken deer in very hot conditions without having access to coolers.
As you say, gutting, skinning, and bagging the meat as soon as possible
is the first step. If I've shot my animal early in the day and I know I can't
get to a cooler, I look for a small forested draw on the shady side of a
mountain, preferably on the side of a larger draw or canyon. If there's any
chance of a cooling breeze, that's where you'll find it. I would then hang up
my quarters until I could make a run for coolers after night sets in. Same with
alongside a sizeable stream inside a canyon. Sometimes the temperature
can be several degrees cooler if those breezes are constant.

Absoulutly!!!....hunters dont need to put in stream to cool fast...find shade in a gully coming from summit ....nice ice cold breeze will drop the temp....thats where the game bags come in great.....breathable ....NOT PLASTIC!!!....hell even pillow cases but for the love of god stay away from using plastic in these temps.

I'd be packing a heap of instant cold packs in the truck if I were planning to drop any big game about now, but I'll wait for cooler temperatures myself.

No different than sheep hunting; gutless, boneless and spread out single layer into pillow cases. Layer some sticks/rocks on the ground to set the pillow cases on until the meat cools/drys out a bit, obviously in the shade. Meat fairs pretty good if you allow the heat and moisture to escape.

If there is a bridge near by you can hang it under the bridge.cool breeze.

Been there, done that.. works fantastic especially if there is any water in the creek..
