There used to be a statement in the regs that prohibited the consumption of harvested game in camp. I can't find it in the current regs. Has there been a change to that regulation? I wondered if it applied to grouse. Anybody know for sure?

Seems unlikely to me that it would be illegal enjoy a tenderloin, ribs, liver, heart over the fire after a successful hunt? We've also shot grouse and rabbit during our hunts and enjoyed those as a meal. The best meal I've ever had was eating fresh mountain goat steaks cooked over a fire, miles away from the nearest road.

Never seen/heard that one before. The best part of a successful hunt is fresh tenders and back straps over an open fire.

As per game birds, I'm not sure how they'd enforce that one after the "evidence" is consumed. Stay within your daily/aggregate bag limits and you should be legal with a clear conscience.

Never seen anything like you describe in the BC regs.

Its possible that the term camp meat meant to some people an animal harvested for eating at camp but not tagged

Three of us on a sheep hunt consumed the better part of a stone sheep shot on the first day of a 10 day hunt. We thought about the same thing and just took pics as we went. As long as you can prove you didnt waste it, they cant stop you from eating your own tagged animal...

Hmmm the biggest ram reported shot in BC ever..and considered the finest big game animal harvested in North America..the stone sheep..Chadwick ram was merely an attempt at " camp meat "..rest of the story? Lol

Been reading the regs and eating camp meat as a tradition for 51 years, don't ever remember anything like that.

Yup sounds like a NDP and friends idea.

Pig it out as much as you can, it makes them Goat, Sheep and Deer pack outs much more manageable lol.

I could be totally wrong, but sounds like the OP was misunderstandings not being allowed to process meat (ie cut and wrap, can, smoke, make jerky, etc) in the field which is against the law as you cannot identify what the animal is or sex. To the best of my knowledge this is still the law.
