I see at work (CDN Tire) we carry Laser Range finders. Has anyone tried using one of these cheap ($250) laser range finders?

inexpensive rangefinders are good for ranging stuff out to 200 yards.

Buy one good one and use it for the rest of your life. Cheap crap is cheap crap. I looked at a Leica (ranged some fir trees at 1147 yards  ) for $595. It's way more than twice as nice as the $250 - $300 cheapos, and much more compact, with excellent optics. Quality is way cheaper in the long run than crap.

Gotta agree with Fisher-Dude on this one..............but........

For us regular folks the less expensive models work just fine. Besides, it's pretty iffy shooting further than 300 - 400 yards.

The less pricey rangefinders work great for archery as well.

For the same amount of money I got a Leupold RXII, (E-bay) while the first one was a POS!! Korth replaced it no trouble, it's not much use beyond 600yds, but neither am I!!!!!

Well I bought it today. I was fooling around with it around the house with it. Its OK for the money. $250 range finder turned out to be $200 (thank god for last sale price and staff discount :)).

Anyway, its all i wanted. Something cheap for measuring distance that I would feel good shooting at (300 yards max).

you'll hate it by the end of the season, when it wont tell you if the deer is 300, or 400 yards away

The lieca is a very nice ranger, but ive compared both the leica and the Bushnell Arc range finder, and the Bushnell, actualy had more range finding capeabilities, however also more bulky to hold.8)

Bushnell Legend is a pretty decent and compact unit, but doesnt have as good of features as the Elite 1500 ARC. Things to consider, CanAm500, when you upgrade next year ;)

I was looking at both the Leica and the 1500 Bushnell and while the Leica was a lot clearer, for myself who wears glasses the Bushnell is waterproof, had the rainguard and also the optic lens was twice the size. Lets be honest in Nov. big bucks, damp, snow rain etc. my glasses fogging up I need all the help than I can get.
