Hi all, looking at the evacuation and alert maps around Loon Lake -- it appears some of the places I had scouted/hunted in the past are potentially all charred.

After devastation like this, does BC order satellite photos of the region for evaluation?

Would love to get my eyes on them to see just how bad it is. Know there were several large cuts around, but don't know if that's good or bad in wildfire situations.

My heart goes out to all of the residents and friends in the region. Hope the fire missed you all, and to the ones that were hit . . . Sorry for your losses, but hope you are safe.

Good link, thx!

Here is a good read that explains the gov't priorities when fire fighting - notice that timber value jumps out as the primary concern through out the paper.... http://www.ccfm.org/pdf/cwfs_Analysis_EN_web.pdf

I use this link to follow burns...both active and the track of them since 'birth'.

Exactly how big is the elephant hill fire area? Anyone got a link to a map showing boundaries?

Frank, I can't copy and past it here its set up in pdf but here's a link to a page with maps on the elephant hill fire at various dates from when it started. It was originally called the Ashcroft reserve fire. Click on one of the latest dates at the bottom and you should get a decent map.
