Have not been into this area for awhile now, got a Bull Moose draw this year. Was curious how the road from MacKenzie down the Finlay Nation Development Road was compare to the Germansen Landing Road from Ft. St. James. We usually come in from the south at Ft. St. James. Which route is the better drive? (Less Potholes, Washboard, etc...) Don't want to beat the equipment up! As by google maps the distances and times are very comparable.

Thx M.

Both routes are being heavily used by logging trucks these days. Either one could be as good as the other or worse than the other on any given day.

Mining traffic as well. Have the RR channels on your road radio

My son is logging up there and making frequent trips in and out. He finds the access from Fort St James preferrable.

We hunted the west side of the MU with access via FSJ. Stayed at Tcheltlo Lake. Locals reported the north road to Germansen was a jungle tour at best and didn't suggest attempting without a great deal of time and truck support.
This effectively cuts the MU into a small west side and large east side. Access the other side means driving almost all the way back to FSJ. We got one moose in the first few hours of hunting, then didn't see another bull all week.
Roads were pretty good by Island standards. Lots of logging traffic. Have a radio and use Resource Road channels!

We used to hunt by Curve lake and we went in through the Cosway, about 110km mark? You don't have to go in far to find moose though
