Hunting Coastal Wolves

Anyone here ever hunted Coastal Wolves? I'd be interested in tying it in with fishing in more remote areas along the west coast, however my understanding is that even seeing a Coastal wolf once is a big deal. Are they really this elusive? If you have hunted them, what were your strategies?
