I am going to mail order some of these meals but I need to know how much food is in each meal? Are they good for 2 people or just one per package? Thanks guys.

The ones I'v had are not big enough for two - especially after a good hike.

The packages are good for 1 persons meal... Unless of course you're some granola eating, hair-farming hippie... 2 of them could probably get by.

Thanks for the replys fellas. We are going to try different food for this years sheep hunt in an attempt to lighten weight and simplify cooking. I was going to mail order from mec unless someone has a better option. The only stuff I could find in PG has already been referred to as "panties" on this site so I will avoid those.
I dont think I could hunt and kill things and maintain status as a granola eating, hair farming hippie.

Too late. They've all been bought out by sheep hunters already ahead of time.

Stay away from Backpackers Pantry (aka panties) it's garbage. Mountain House is the way to go for the freezedrieds. MEC has the best prices I have seen yet... (5.75 Each) Not sure if they are selling it on their website though.

They dont have them listed on the web site but over the phone you can order by description. I used your(Bigwhiteys) list from a previous thread.

the double serving is only big enough for one real sized guy.

Most of their meals are good for just one person. Dont order there jerky just go and buy it from the local butcher shop it may weight a little more but it doesnt dehydrate you as bad and really sticks to your ribs durring a long hike.

Just bought 16 packs from Three Vets for $9.99 each! Wish I had known that MEC carried them for almost half the price. I gave up on freezed dried years ago until I tried Mountain House this year. It will simplify the meals and burn less fuel.

I've used the mountain house meals on lots of trips and with lots of different partners and found that I meal is enough to get by on for 2 but not comfortably. If weight is truly a concern, take 1 per 2 and a slingshot; a couple of ptarmigan or grouse added makes all of the difference. Everytime I give people this advice they laugh because they think its stupid but with a little parctice a couple or more ptarmigan or grouse per day is quite achievable.

Looks like I got hosed again!

Definitely one pack per hunter unless you plan to shoot a ram from the tent or you've got an extra 20 pounds to lose. I also tend to sleep better on a full stomach!
