Hey everyone i am hoping someone that knows might want to help me out with some info . My buddy and I got the 6-20 A LEH Bull only caribou draw ( individual) . I have never been in this area before but were really looking forward to hunting there . We are hoping to have a look at the moose open season up there as well in that time frame . We are planing on leaving the Okanagan on Aug 18 and returning on the 25 as its my sons birthday on the 26th :) . Our plan is to drive up . Set camp , possibly bring a ATV and a deep freezer ran by a generator . Use the ATV on the roads but mostly focus on hiking back way back where there might not be as much pressure and hauling out what ever we get one quarter at a time on our back . Any advice would be appreciated on butcher , place to camp , area to look into , short cuts in travel ( flying ) .

Thank you

There is already a thread about this area, perhaps someone could help me out by posting it, but this area comes with many difficulties

Is there an open season for moose in 6-20a? Thats the spatsizi draw isnt it? If it is fly to coldfish 3rd week of september and hike up to the plateau for your caribou

Yes there is an open season for moose in 6 20 . We are only able to go from August 18 to August 25 . 3rd Week in September won't work .

Keep in mind, 2 days travel up...1/2 day hike in and setup. 1/2 day out, and 2 days back home....imo you need more days!

I did a lot of research over the last two days . It seems like it might not be the year for me . I called a couple of airlines and one was $ 3600 for flight into ColdFish and the second was about $ 1600 but booked solid with no openings . I haven't been able to find a way in otherwise . Rotorwash whats your approach ?

As long as you understand there is no open moose season in 6-20 a i can get you in for a solid price but if you didnt draw a moose for the spat you are hunting bou only. If you didnt understand what this hunt entails and you put in then maybe look into your draws next time.

I think lots of guys put in for draws not really knowing what is involved for particular areas. 6-20 is a no joke area

I did look into the hunt as much as i could . And you are correct its only for the Caribou . What is your price and for what mode of access?

Should be about 2g's, in and outta Coldfish.
As people have said, this is a hell hole, if you are not in physical shape, and its paradise, if you are!
I've hunted the park more than a few times, rugged beauty, but unforgiving.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts . I work all year to make sure I'm ready for hunting season as for many of us its more then just an obsession . I welcome all challenges but just find that even tho there are other threads on this ( 6-20 A) none are specific on where to stay who to fly with and how far in advance you have to book .

Have you ever been through the area?

The number of days you have allotted is not enough. If you cant go for more days hunt GOS for moose somewhere closer.....more likely to have success.

I'd be contacting the flight service at Tattoga Lake ASAP.

Looks like my house is still standing! I wonder if my wife is going to be upset if I tell her I'm still going for my hunt.
