I have never hunted that area and am planning a trip with my crossbow to hunt on a family members property in the Kaliden area between penticton and O.K. Falls

crossbow counts as a bow for archery season where you will be able to shoot any buck MD

only one MD period (buck or doe)in R8....they have a table on page 17 of the regs that is very helpful

Bow for 'any buck' during the bow season sept 1-9, or you can hunt any buck with bow or rifle Oct 1-31 (excluding 8-12 to 8-15), and some areas of R8 have a bow only season Nov 25- Dec 10...but, Sept 10 -30, and Nov 1 - 10, whether your using a bow or not, it's still 4 pt only season for MD..

Most bucks will have scuffed off their velvet by Sept in that neck of the woods...theres always exceptions though.

There are no deer of any kind in Region 8. I don't even think Kaleden exists. :) :)

^^^^Ya R8 has a deer:douche-bag ratio of about 10:100, your better off just coming here for the night life...

=-//-----> Region 8 rocks for beauty mule country, I've had the pleasure of hunting region 8 for mules and I saw with my own two eyeballs the world class mule deer hunting and topography.
-- Region 8 wood be my choice other than Reg 3 but I live in Mule Deer City so not too prudent.
I can give you some spots in 8 for hunting bigger mule deer buckatoids. A couple anyways.
Jel -- soon too early in the marnin, need my second cup a joe
-------------------Region 8 looks and is like Wyoming - Utah - New Mexico - Colorado ---------------

Region 8 - Okanagan
Fewer high mountains then udder regions makes access available all thru Reg 8 hunters.
-- logging roads every where and up to sub-alpine terrain in many areas.
-- MU 8-03 is a fine hunting area, for mules, the Ashnola Range, reached from Hwy 3 by crossing the Similkimeen River on the old covered bridge ahhh, 5 km west of Keremeous.
Healthy herd of Caifornia sheep in here and big mule deer.
MU 8-3 has fantastic hunting for mules and sheep of open timber land and grassy hill sides.
Big mule bucks roaming thru this excellent MU 8-03.
Jel -- The Ashnola Range -- big mule bucks with some luck -- and a pick me up twuck!

Will be hunting right close to Kaleden...will be staying at aunts and uncles place....and will be bringing my youngest daughter....knowing how many deer come through there property might not need to go to far but still will be hiking into some country....reletives tell me I can bow hunt right on there property but I think all of Kaleden is no shooting zone....not sure if that's just for rifles...either way will be doing some hiking.

Yep, every region and unit can vary in season dates and animal class....gotta be careful and pay attention. Region 8 is broad, gotta look at each unit within for specific regulations. The reg. book is pretty well laid out.

Well, I know one deer is in that area. Was going to Oliver a couple weekends ago, and right after I passed the Kalleden weigh scales and about 200 yards after the fork towards Oliver I had one run across the highway in front of me.
