Elk in Creston area.

I have Never hunted in Creston before.
Going to try for elk this year with my Dad and Brother to MU 4-06
Any information on elk in this area would be greatly appreciated, as
we are just looking for a place to start and set up camp.

Hi Gerry ,welcome to the forum ,i hunted a few years in the goat river drainage a few years back and got into some good mule and elk hunting in there. When headed up highway 3 towards cranbrook turn left at Kitchener ,it is a FSR head in about 12 klm to a rec sight called goat river canyon rec site you can camp there. Then come back about 3klm to a road called leadville Creek fsr ,it is on your left side of the road when headed back out. Go all the way back in there to the top of the mountain. It goes way back in there ,good places to hunt off spur roads everywhere. There is another road just one klm past leadville creek coming back out that is ,it goes up to the back side of Kitchener Mt ,that is good for elk also. Get a map book of the area and you will see what i am talking about. Good luck on your hunt , :wink: wayne.

I heard but not have hunted the area myself is the Kid Creek FSR...

or try the Kid cr. rd, is the next road to the left after goat the goat! I seen some nice bulls and whiteys in there before!
