Moose LEH 7-09

My buddy got a draw, but I don't know the area. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Wayne! Hi there, Jelvis in the Loops. You're buddy is a fortunate person to get a draw in MU 7-09 for moose. Willow River West, Access form Willow River road system or from Hwy 97 at Buckhorn, Red Rock and several roads off highway between Red Rock and Hixon. Fair to good moose hunting. Jelly Roll

Wayne get a hold of the wildlife branch and ask them about the area ,also get some maps of the land.

If he can get up there before the season, just take some drives and look around. You can pretty much bump into em anywhere in the zone. I have had three draws for that area and always seem to fill the tag. Got the same draw again this year, hopefully the same outcome as before. Like Jelvis said, hit into the Willow River Buckhorn area and you got a good chance. PM me if you need more info.

you guys are lucky-we put in for a shared hunt in 7-9 and drew ''nil''.Nice country-lots of grouse, moose,but the elusive ''immature'' we have never seen

I am looking at the map - the roads branching off Willow River road seem to be more, so maybe they provide more opportunity, but I am not sure if that is not rural area. I see some camipng sites on the map - I am afraid there might bee too many campers there? Also do you know if there is any cheap accomodation there.

The roads between Red Rock and Hixon are too short and no branching (at least on the map). Is this really the case. Anybody been there?

when i was up there didn't see to many axcess roads and i think there is a ski hill no shooting area there also

geez im not seeing a ski hill on my maps is there one there by willow river
according to my distribution maps the moose are between buckhorn rd and highway 16 west of willow river
