Basket-weave checkering is post-64.

Square-cut checkering is pre-64.

The pre-64 commands a few more $$$.

The rifle has basket weave wood . I think the scope is 3 x9 x40. It is a nice looking
fifle. I can't seem to find one to compare price and without I'm just guessing. I'm not collecting
i will be hunting with it.

I have a few. In this part of the world between six and seven hundred will buy most model 88s in 308. I enjoy these rifles as much, or more than a BLR.

Don't go crazy on the price. Replacement parts are next to impossible to find.

$700 with a half-assed scope and in good shape is about what they go for. If you want it, I say buy it!

They are really nice guns, I've had my pre-64 since the late 1970s, and it has killed a pile of game.
