Hello all,

I am a Alberta resident planning to give turkey hunting a try, I have a few areas in mind and will be heading out there next week to do some scouting. My understanding is that most of the turkeys are on private land but I've yet to figure that out for certain. In Alberta there are land owners maps to help find out who owns land vs what is public. Can you guys give me some suggestions on what is the best way to figure that out in BC? Besides pulling a land title each time there must be a better way, or a map showing Crown lands?

Thanks in advanced.

Ryan

Good to check with the local Regional District office. Some have all the maps on their website.

Front counter BC will allow you to see what you're looking for as well.

Front Counter BC has a Google Earth extension that will display land use in BC, from private land to parks to crown to IR to Tenure and more. Just be sure to de-select the Front Counter locations in "Places" in Google Earth or you'll see every government agency office in the province... The rest of the extension is very useful when looking for land use.

One of the nice things about the LTSA link in the one I posted (the second link above) is that you can also do a title search through the system and therefore learn who owns the property and that begins opening doors to possibly contacting the owners of private land.

Go to the app store and search for "BC hunting maps online" it's a free app that will use your gps location in your phone and show you crown land, municipal and private. It's very handy and easy to use. I am not sure if they have it for the iPhone though.
