^ What he said. Parowax and boiling water after you pluck the flight feathers. Always works great for me.

Yes, I have done it....
I butcher my animals by myself and take pride and pleasure in doing so, but when it comes to plucking 5+ geese.... ...It is a lot of work/plucking!!!....so I started looking for other ways of getting around it.

I've never seen it in BC, but in Alberta most of the Hutterite colonies will pluck and clean your birds for a reasonable price.

Could try a chicken plucker. Never done a goose but we raised lots of meat chickens. Works really good and you can rent them.

Pick them when they're still warm and it's way easier! K

Always a great option lol

Kids are another great way to solve the issue

You need a "motherplucker". If you don't want to eat the skin don't worry about all the pin feathers and once cooked discard the skin.

as kids we used to get paid to do them.....I think it was two bits for two ducks......between dad, gramps, and 2 uncles we would end up with a few bucks each....my brother and I would sit on the shed roof at the back of the property and let the wind carry the feathers into the bush...good initiation for young kids to see first hand "where food comes from" without too much blood and gore....kinda the next step up from fish cleaning .....sometimes, as hunters, we forget how we were slowly shown the world of hunting/blood guts and gore in gradual steps...it is an important consideration when dealing with the uninitiated...

Have a look at the "Easy Pluck" website, I bought the economy kit myself and supplied the rest of the stuff myself, it works great. Makes quick work of a limit of geese or ducks.

Couldn't agree more, still remember freezing cold hands after getting two limits on a November night flight hunt.
