I'm pretty excited. A couple of older guys invited me along. No guide, but a lake they've been going to every few years for a while.

2-1/2 weeks. I had to pay for my wife and two of her friends to go to Hawaii in a couple weeks. No problem, in my business I accumulate lots of points. But cash would have been cheap at the price!

Finally bought a 300 win mag, too.

I was going to make a couple of jokes about life insurance and Deliverance but I won't ;)

Sounds like a trip to look forward to, good luck and good hunting.

Lots of time to get in shape. I did 2 fly in trips when I was younger. Thought I was ready. NOT but was so much fun. Good luck.

Congrats. only better if someone has a GBear tag.
Fishing in the lake? Grayling in the streams?
imo don't scent up the area too much by roaming around, keep the footprint small and be patient
Late September?

I already put a seat belt on my cast iron fry pan so I can sleep with it strapped across my arse. :)

I'm happy to say I'm in great shape AND I'm taking your advice to improve it.

Yeah, late Sept. We're taking 2 inflatables with motors for 3 guys, so I'll be marooned on an island until someone else gets lucky, then I'll be afloat.

We're all putting in for GB leh, you bet.

Still can't believe my wife said yes. Mind you, she also wants me to update the will before I go. :)

By the way, my nuts aren't in her purse. We've got small children and both work. 2-1/2 weeks is a big ask.

And I've been rooked out of the trip.

The guy who booked the plane got drunk with a buddy of his, and invited him along. This is back in may or something.

Well, it's a 3 person tent and all that.

So ever since then, he's acted like a complete F-ing asshole to me, in an obvious effort to get me to quit. Well, he managed it. No way am I spending almost 3 weeks with that bas-tard.

Betcha' $10 he doesn't return the thousand bucks I put down.

Edit: funny, the filter is fine with "asshole", but doesn't like illegitimate offspring.

Sorry to hear. You should throw out a few feelers on here and see if anyone would want to do a fly in with you. I did it years ago and ended up with a great hunting partner/friend. I could point you in the right direction as far as picking a lake. Throw me a PM if you like.

Find a couple other guys and head in there a week before them.

I find when hunting with guys their true colours show. For you it happened before the hunt. Consider yourself lucky.

I think I'm going to drive up to 7-50 or something for a week or something.

Plus I drew a doe tag for the deadman valley in november. Definitey not missing that!

I'll take you up on that. Thanks, Dale. PM incoming.

I'll see how they do this year, then maybe next year :)

Consider yourself lucky, you have some time now to plan your 2 weeks, and choose whom you're doing it with. It would've been a shit of an experience spending 3 weeks on there with them ...and that attitude.

As said, throw a couple feelers here, meet the guys, plan and enjoy your time off.

Which lake up north?

Sorry, man. If the guy was drowning I'd throw him an anvil, but I was specifically sworn to secrecy.

Doesn't mean I won't go there someday! :) Cheers.

If you are desperate you could do what this guy did (though it did not work) http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/foi-request-fishing-spot-1.4232556

Finding good hunting partners is very tough. My 3 kids are mine, 20-25 years old.
The problem we have now is all three all work and only one can get the time off required.

I am booked with Kevin at Riverjet for mid sept again this year and have now seen my crew drop from 4 guys down to 2. My kids have a few buddies but none can afford the trip.

I would accept resumes for good hunters under 30!!

I have ALL gear required including wall tent and tipi camps.

This is risky but putting it out there. If I can help some young kids keep hunting alive then awesome.
