I was in Kamloops on the long weekend and went out to do a little scouting first thing in the morning. I saw this guy destroying a stump beside the road so I stopped to take a pic.

He is a pretty cool colour. He was not too scared either.

Enjoy.

It is great that you people that live on the main land have tanned brown colored bears to see ,hear on the island there are none http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif.

Cool Color Phase. I've lived in Kamloops most of my life and have never seen one that light brown, cinnamon and chocolate, yes, but not this color.

Excellent colours. I have seen 1 other bear with those colors 2 yrs. ago around the Kamloops area.

i think it has something to do with the fact that the bears on the island are actually a sub species....but icould be wrong...

Both of you guys ar right also a smaller gene pool (hence bigger bears bigger heads lack of colorphases) isolated from the gene pool on the mainland. Generally speaking

There are 6 subspieces of bear in BC the ones on Vancouver Island and Queen charlottes are the purest of them. The mainland bears have been breeding between subspecies giving you different varietie of color and size.

That is a really nicely colored bear. Most of the color phase bears I've seen have been way darker, or red, I haven't seen many that blonde, almost looks like a silvertip. Really pretty bear

Excellent video. I have a friend who saw a white phase black bear this spring in 3-20. It may be the same bear. This one looks fairly young, and with the darker colors on the ears and neck, I think it will be a pale blonde or light brown next spring.

One of my brother in laws was a road forman over in Tafino about 25 years ago. He told me at the start he would see about 30 bears a day. He was also seeing some brown and blonde ones in the bunch. A guide started to bring in hunters and the numbers of bears dropped off. He said he saw very few different colors after a few years.
