Thanks Dana. It is great you can get within that range and have the clarity on your camera to boot. I'll be looking forward to seeing a few picks of fall hunting from you and that camera.

Derek,
My camera has a 18x optical zoom. For a point and shoot it definately takes some nice pics. I've very happy with it.

For those that haven't already put two and two together, we saw these rams in Jasper on our way back home from Drumheller. The hardest part of taking the pics was making sure the other tourists weren't in the frame.

I have always wondered why I haven't seen any old bruiser rams near the highway in jasper. I always seem to see large bands but nothing truly huge. Why do you think that is? Do they hang in a different area maybe? Is it the genetics. These pics for instance the oldest ram that I saw is maybe 9.???

43.5 by 41. huge ram, he looks weak in the bases and his nose makes him look alot like a donky kinda. I assume this is a Jasper ram or is it just a picture?

Brambles

Yeah I figured he was close to 44 on the long side and around 40 on the short side, this picture doesn't truely show you how much like a donkey he really looks like. A seriously ugly faced ram, but man what a set of horns.

No he's not a Jasper Ram, I took this picture while on my honeymoon in...............June

AAAAWWWW! I thought you were going to say it! You got me. He is one of a kind, what gets me is he has both lamb tips still, pretty rare in an old bighorn.
I can't help it, this is my brother's ram from last year, it was really cool to hold onto a big rocky, i never realized how big they were compared to the thinhorns. Guess for lenght on the long side?

Oh I'm not sure on the length on that ram, looks like a heavier ram with a bigger curl not sure if he'd go over 40, I kind a want to say 38 but probably 39"

Was that a GOS ram or did he get the special sheep permit, got a score for us?

Oh and the word you were looking for was "Golden" and yes its the part that you CAN'T hunt:( Seems like the rams know they are safe, there were 15 rams in the parking lot of the hotel we were staying at, only 2 legal ones.

Bruin

Thats a smoker of a ram, a lot bigger then mine. My experiences tell me that ram should go about 188 and change.

Congrats again to your brother.
