Court Conviction for Repeat Offender

This week the New Aiyansh Provincial Court heard a case against a Nass Valley resident who had been charged with possess firearm while prohibited under the Criminal Code. This individual had been convicted in Terrace Provincial Court 2 years prior for moose hunting at night with the aid of a light and during prohibited hours. At that time he was sentenced to not participate in any hunting nor be in possession of a firearm for 5 years. Subsequently, this same individual was apprehended by Conservation Officers a second time in Dec 2015, still under probation, prohibited from firearms and was actively hunting again. As a result of this combined criminal activity he was sentenced to 60 days house arrest and a 10 year firearms prohibition. His firearm was also forfeited.
