Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone on HBC has the Leupold vx-2 ultralight 3-9x33 cds scope on any of there rifles. I just picked up a new ruger compact m77 243 as my new deer gun. Just wanted some insight if anyone has one or has used one of these scopes. Thanks and happy new year!

I have had one for a few years and I like it.
Its on a Remington 700 Ti in 270 / 08 in Talley mounts and the whole package weighs 6 lb. 4 oz.

Been running one since 09 on a Weatherby MKV ULW 280Rem, doesn't have the CDS dials though.
I like it, it is light and small, plus the LR reticle is a handy feature, I prefer it to the standard duplex these days.
Even with a 33mm objective it gathers light like no ones business, very pleased with it.
Haven't had to touch the adjustments since the final sighting back in 09.

Would I buy another one?
Would I recommend it?

You betchya.

How is the eye relief on these scopes? Have heard it might be a little too close for comfort

The eye relief is the big complaint you hear. If it happens to mount on your rifle just right for where your eye will be not a problem but you don't have much leeway. Personally I like scopes with 4 inches of ER like my conventional vx2 iirc the compacts are around 3 inches.

The vx2 2-7x33 is one oz heavier and is much brighter. A couple oz more and a few more more $$ and you get a real step up in the vx3 2.8-8x36, which is about the best for the price. Both are much better in terms of brightness and eye relief. I've owned all three.

100% agree, the3×9 by33 I found was not a good scope for dawn or dusk
