Every year around November my wife takes pleasure in decorating the few Sets of antlers we have in our house. I think it's a fair trade seems how she lives with them all year and always helps me determine where the next memory mount will go. Makes me think my input actually matters. Merry. Christmas all hope you all have great holidays with familyhttp://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/webkit-fake-url://3288ea72-2e1a-48f9-bc59-25c5918819a0/imagejpeg. I remember a stuffed moose head hanging in a Chinese restaurant in East Van years ago. Every Christmas he got a Santa hat put on his head and a cigar in his mouth. Really put you in the mood ...

Winter here is OK for men and dogs but hard as hell on women and horses.

As I recall the story, a little kid was really upset by that moose. He said "I understand that people eat moose and we need to kill them, but why did they kill him at a Christmas Party?"

I desecrated my wife's wreath with shiny green fishing lures and flashers. :-P I'd post a pic but it's on its way to Tofino as she went a day ahead.

Not going to lose sleep over it, but I think it is a bit disrespectful. Each to his own, but hanging baubles from the antlers and sticking a red nose on the end of my 4 point mount won't happen in my house.

I'm sorry you find it a bit disrespectful, not my intention. Asking myself now if I feel it was. We are lucky enough to do over half of our hunting on the family farm. Respect starts for us with the countless hours (must be hundreds a year) spent sitting in a blind watching the local deer, glassing them, naming the silly bucks we see and enjoying the repeat doe fawn, doe fawn yearling family groups. This happens before, during, and after the hunting season. The decision to finally pull the trigger is rare indeed for us. though taken very seriously.
Putting a mount or a rack on your wall certainly in my opinion doesn't create respect for an animal. Why your putting it there does. The memory of that animal, that moment, that season, or the family time well spent in the outdoors together. when the holidays have ended and the bulbs are removed the same enjoyable conversations will take place, regardless of decorations. And no, hanging a few baubles makes no matter to the deer or the respect it receives, especially from our family. Put a red nose on that 4 point mount, go ahead try it, you can always take it off, never know might make you smile.

Not going to lose sleep over it, but I most certainly hope your beloved 4pt died in its sleep of natural causes and not because you "disrespectfully" blew a bullet/broadhead through its vitals....

Give me a break.....

Nice Dougie! I'm a do some ungulate decorating today HA.

So true about the local deer herd. 5 years now yet to pull the trigger on one off our property, wife says she gets to keep the antlers if I ever do. So we collect their sheds instead, unless one day I can't hold back. In that case he'll go on display out of respect, and decorated out of respect. Pretty much part of the family when you see em from spots to breeding age...
