Headed out for 2 weeks during the rut for moose with my leh draw.
Called this guy out 1.5 hrs before dark.
He came out so quietly I was shocked to see him standing there looking at me.
Slowly took my gloves off and raised my rifle.
Took one shot with my tikka 300wm 180 gr ttsx through the front shoulder lung shot.
Took one more in the boiler room.
He ran about 75 yards into hell and expired.
A few high fives with my good pal and we got to work.
Lit a massive fire and packed out the rear quarters and backstraps that night in the dark on my back.
Left a smelly shirt behind to hopefully keep the wolves and bears off.
Had a few drinks that night to celebrate then went back first light to get the rest.
I had a great time fishing and hunting with a good buddy. We caught some nice fish and saw some wolves a nice black bear and a couple moose that I was unable to harvest. One moose was a massive tri Palm.
I also called a moose in on the first day he was smashing his antlers off the trees and wouldn't come out, it was a very cool experience.
Didnt connect with a deer this year but I had a great 2 week trip and got this tasty moose for our freezers.

merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone.

Nice bull for sure and well done. The bullet thread going on right now has good insight. 2 shots into that fellow and still went 75 yards.... For me that is 75 yards too far.

What region did you get your leh for?

my buddy saw the wolves,
he took a long shot crack at them but no hit! too bad because there is alot more dog sign then last time i was up there 2 years ago..

i just missed the shoulder bone, so i liquified his lungs, i agree though 75 yards to far!!
I am going to try a 180 grain nosler partition next year.. not saying that the ttsx is a bad bullet as i clearly missed the bone, and would have got the same result in any bullet, but i feel like trying the NP.

Got ya. Sucks when they run! Got to love those young bulls though. The ones we got in reg 5 this year are the best moose I've ever had.

Thanks,
the packout was about 100-120 pounds I'm guessing. Wasn't too bad as far as distance goes.
I actually managed to use the meat shelf on my badlands 2200, was shocked that I could fit moose quarters in that bag. The next day I brought the pack frame though. Much easier.

I harvested him on oct 1.
