Need to get my wife some hiking/hunting boots....seems the market for women's boots is a little shallow and what does exist seems to lack in reviews....any suggestions?

Bought my wife a pair of men's north face boots. I've heard no complaints, but she's probably only done 10-15km in them due to a foot injury. The difference between men's and women's boots was black trim/pink trim, and sizer ange.

My wife has a pair of Lowas, and really likes them. Tried Scarpas but found they fit a bit narrow.

I second the Lowas. They are the most comfortable and durable hikers I have owned.

Scarpa. They actually make a woman's boot. Valhalla Pure sells them, and the store we dealt with actually had a knowledgeable boot fitter. It took my wife a few different high end brands to finally find a boot that worked for everything from spring bear to fall sheep and the top end (of course) Scarpa was it.

Zamberlan Voiz are a great boot. They sell them at MEC for $299 and I'm thinking they will last her years.

I have the irish setter lady hawk boots. With side zippers no laces. Now I love these boots. I have stood in water and then have not gotten wet. I have not used them for real steep country and I don't think I would as they are a high boot. But for basic deer hunting they would be good. But the only down side though is if your are walking thru brush they do make a little noise as the brush brushes past the boots. I tuck my pants into my boots. You could solve that issue by leaving your pants out.

And the other boots I have are the irish setter vaprtek boots I use those for deer hunting to this year and they are nice and light.
I have the cabelas meindels womens boot and they aren't to bad but the sole started to come apart at the front of the boot.
I also have the muck boots they get hot. But good for when it is raining.

Lowa. They make women's boots built on a last made specifically for women's feet - not modified men's boots.

Hopefully they don't shrink like the men's boots. Pretty risky proposition with a $400-500 price tag.
